No account, no servers: how ThisDay keeps your day private

ThisDay has no sign-up and I run no servers for it. Your day lives on your device and in your own iCloud, and the AI runs on your device.

ThisDay on an iPhone, answering a question about the week with a chart of tasks done each day.

ThisDay has no account and I run no servers for it. Everything you add stays on your device, and if you turn on sync it travels through your own iCloud, which I cannot read. The Apple Intelligence features run on your device. There are no analytics, no ads and no tracking. I never see your day, by design.

Why a planner should know nothing about you

A planner knows a lot. Where you will be on Tuesday, who you are meeting, what you are worried about, what you wrote at midnight, how much you slept. That is exactly the kind of data that should not sit on a stranger's server, mine included.

So I built ThisDay so that it never has to. Not "we take your privacy seriously" and a long policy; there is simply nowhere for your data to go.

No account

There is no sign-up. You open ThisDay and start. Nothing about you is tied to me: no email, no password, no profile on my side.

No servers of mine

I do not run a backend for ThisDay. Your items are stored on your device. When you turn on iCloud sync, they travel through Apple's CloudKit, in your own iCloud account, to your other devices. I have no access to it and no copy of it.

On-device AI

ThisDay uses Apple Intelligence to turn a sentence into items, to sort the Inbox in one go, and to answer questions about your days. All of it runs on your device. What you type, what you ask and the items it reads are not sent to me or to anyone else.

Apple Health, read-only

Habits can tick themselves from Apple Health: steps, sleep, workouts, the rings. ThisDay reads that data on your device, only for the habits you link, and never writes to Health.

No analytics, no ads

There are no analytics, no crash telemetry, no advertising identifiers and no ads. I learn what to fix from the emails people send me, which works better anyway.

What that costs me, and you

The trade-off is honest: ThisDay is Apple-only, and sharing happens through iCloud. If you need a web app or Android, it is not for you, and I would rather say that here than in a review.

Taking your data with you

Your data is yours to take. Settings can export everything as JSON, or your tasks, events, notes and voice notes as rows for Numbers or Excel. More in Privacy in the help pages, and the full policy is at this-day.app/privacy.

Questions

Does ThisDay need an account?

No. There is no sign-up and no account with me. You download ThisDay and start using it. If you want your day on more than one device, you turn on iCloud sync, which uses the Apple Account you are already signed in with, not an account of mine.

Can the developer see my tasks?

No. I run no servers for ThisDay, so your items never reach me. They are stored on your device and, with sync on, in your own iCloud through Apple's CloudKit, which only your devices can read. I have no copy and no way to look.

Does ThisDay's AI send my data to the cloud?

No. The Apple Intelligence features in ThisDay, like planning from a sentence and sorting the Inbox, run on your device with Apple's on-device model. Your words and your items stay on the device. Where Apple Intelligence is not available, dates are still read from what you type, on the device.

Does ThisDay collect analytics?

No. ThisDay collects no analytics, no crash reports, no advertising identifiers and no personal information, and shows no ads. If something breaks, I hear about it when you write to me at hello@akilastudio.com, and I answer every message myself.
